What can I expect on my first visit?
During the first visit you will fill out paperwork detailing your present symptoms, health history, and past injuries. The doctor will review your paperwork with you and ask additional questions designed to help determine the nature of your illness. In addition, an examination will be performed to detect any structural abnormalities which may be affecting or causing your condition. If chiropractic care is right for your condition you will be treated that same day. In addition to being adjusted, other therapies such as muscle work, electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound, acupuncture and cold therapy may be performed in order to compliment the adjustments. The initial visit typically last 30-45 minutes.

What is chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a branch of health care that deals primarily with disorders of the musculoskeletal system and nervous system. Treatment is hands-on and conservative, meaning no drugs or surgery. The most common form of treatment is manipulation or adjustments to the different joints of the body, particularly the spinal joints. Adjustments are performed in order to increase motion and relieve irritation of the joints, muscles, and/or nerves.
How do misalignments happen and can I tell if I have a misalignment of my spine?
Misalignments, or subluxations, result from a variety of stresses: the birth process, sitting for extended periods of time, lifting or carrying heavy objects, shoveling snow, repetitive on-the-job motions, abnormal sleeping positions, slips, falls, sports injuries, car accidents, poor posture, etc.
You are not always able to tell if you have a spinal misalignment. Not unlike a dental cavity, you may have spinal misalignment for a long time before symptoms appear. Your body is very adaptive and pain is seldom associated with early occurrence of spinal misalignments. When pain is present, it may diminish or disappear without corrective action, but often months later emerge as a far worse condition. That is why regular spinal checkups are always a good idea.
What conditions benefit from chiropractic care?
Although chiropractic is used most frequently to relieve neck and low back pain, other conditions respond quite well to chiropractic treatment. Some other common conditions seen in our clinic include: headaches, sciatica, sprains/strains, numbness and tingling in an extremity, arthritic conditions, tendonitis, bursitis, golfer/tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, and plantar fasciitis. If it is determined that chiropractic treatment is not suitable for your particular condition, our chiropractors will refer you to another health provider who is best suited to treat your specific condition.
